Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to host an ITES-sponsored teacher?
Our fees vary based on your specific needs and service requirements. We offer flexible partnership models for schools and districts of all sizes—from independent and charter schools to large urban public districts. We're committed to transparent pricing and will provide a straightforward conversation about your needs, options, and costs. Contact us for a personalized fee structure.
How qualified are ITES-sponsored international teachers?
Every ITES teacher is thoroughly vetted and must meet rigorous requirements: a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in education or their subject area, at least two years of full-time teaching experience, verified English proficiency, background screening, and foreign credential evaluation confirming U.S. equivalency. All educators are professionally qualified in their home countries.
How long can international teachers work at our school?
The J-1 Exchange Visitor Program allows teachers to work in the U.S. for up to three years initially. With mutual consent, teachers in their third year can apply for a one or two-year extension, allowing up to five years total. Contracts typically renew annually before each school year ends.
Can ITES sponsor a teacher we've already identified?
Yes. Provided all regulatory requirements are satisfied, ITES can provide complete visa sponsorship support for your selected teacher. This is one of our most popular services—helping schools bring specific educators they've already chosen. Contact us to discuss your teacher's qualifications and begin the process.
How do we evaluate foreign degrees for U.S. equivalency?
ITES works with SpanTran—The Evaluations Company, a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). We provide discounted rates for credential evaluation and guide both schools and teachers through the process. This ensures all educators meet U.S. educational standards.
What support does ITES provide after the teacher arrives?
Our partnership doesn't end at placement. We provide ongoing support including professional development resources, cultural integration assistance, compliance monitoring, and responsive communication for both teachers and school administrators throughout the entire program period.
What makes ITES different from other J-1 sponsors?
ITES is intentionally scaled to maintain personal connections with every teacher and school partner. We don't charge teachers sponsorship fees, provide in-person arrival orientations (not just online), and offer tailored support meeting each teacher's unique needs. Since 2008, we've maintained our mission-driven, partnership-focused approach rather than transaction-based processing.
